shifting food business behaviour
In partnership with UK Research & Innovation
In advance of the release of Henry Dimbleby’s National Food Strategy, UKRI substantially invested in a wide range of academic and scientific research on sustainability as part of its Transforming the UK Food System for Healthy People and a Healthy Environment.
creating guidance
However, they felt that a critical piece of the puzzle was missing to make meaningful change in the food system: strategic guidance on how to shift the behaviour of food businesses - encouraging behaviour that supported the health of both people and planet.
To support more holistic, strategic behavioural thinking, Bright Harbour worked with food insight and behaviour science expert partners to:
Identify emerging trends, challenges and opportunities shaping food business behaviour
Apply behavioural frameworks (COM-B and the Behaviour Change Wheel) to map drivers of food business behaviour against a socio-ecological framework
Create a simple guide for practitioners in the field to use behaviour mapping
Findings were presented in a succinct and fully designed report that has been used in tandem with other research from the UKRI Strategic Priorities Fund to help create a landscape of the currently changing food system.
